The father-of-one lead his 190-strong team through an exceptional time, with thousands of shoppers queuing and loo paper, flour, baking powder, hand sanitiser and cleaning products in hot demand. He wants to take a holiday, as soon as he can, to Doubtless Bay.

“My ideal holiday would be to rent a bach up there. I’d take my family, some friends and my boat. Quite a few of my friends have children; we’d all play footy and cricket on the beach. We have a sea biscuit for the boat; I drive slowly for the kids but have a bit of fun when the adults get on. I grew up in the Bay of Islands and the beach was a big part of my life with so many beautiful bays in the region. I have many good memories around there. My fiancé and I alternate where we spend Christmas and this year it’s with my family in Northland. We have a family tradition where we play cricket on Boxing Day; I’m really looking forward to it.”
