Unlike the ubiquitous mountain vistas on many of the walks around Queenstown, Bob’s Cove is a short, family-friendly stroll that explores the lower terrain around Lake Wakatipu.
A short walk from the carpark on the scenic Queenstown-Glenorchy Road takes you to the pristine beach of Bob’s Cove on the shores of Lake Wakatipu – a lovely spot for summer swims and shore fishing.
However, if you continue on to the viewpoint on the hill you’ll be rewarded with Insta-worthy vistas across the lake and surrounding mountains.
Bob’s Cove Track also features historic rocky relics from the 1800s when the Wakatipu Lime Company processed limestone here.
If you’re feeling energetic, you can add to your walk by taking the adjoining Twelve Mile Delta Track – a two- to four-hour, mostly flat walk that follows the shoreline of the lake.
