Fiordland National Park: the eighth wonder
Fiordland National Park is home to what many consider New Zealand’s most stunning natural attraction – the breathtaking Milford Sound, also known as the eighth wonder of the world.
Enjoy walking an easy loop track through red beech forest and alongside Lake Gunn, beginning from Milford Road.
The loop track passes through red beech forest and gives glimpses of the birdlife typical of the Eglinton Valley. Side trips can be made to several lake beaches and sheltered fishing spots.
This walk begins from the Milford Road, about 78km from Te Anau. The former Lake Gunn Campsite is closed to overnight camping but you can visit the site during the day.
