AA Plus & AA Motorhome Plus Terms and Conditions of Service

Starting 1 April 2025, these Terms and Conditions will apply to all new Members and those renewing on or after this date. If you joined or renewed on or before 31 March 2025, you can request a copy of the applicable terms and conditions.

AA Plus and AA Motorhome Plus are upgrades to Personal Membership. Except as varied below, all other Personal Membership Terms and Conditions of Service apply to AA Plus and AA Motorhome Plus. 

AA Plus and AA Motorhome Plus Benefits

AA Plus means we will assist you in arranging to have the Vehicle, attached Trailer or Carvan, or Motorhome (when this relates to an AA Motorhome Plus subscription), repaired or towed and to help get you to your destination or Home Address quickly and conveniently. Our contribution towards this assistance is subject to the limits and exclusions contained in these Term and Conditions.  

Subscription 

AA Plus and AA Motorhome Plus subscriptions are for a term of 12-months and are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

If you upgrade to AA Plus or AA Motorhome Plus partway through your existing Membership Year, the full 12-month price for the upgrade will apply. However, at your next renewal, the upgrade fee will be pro-rated to align with the cycle of your Membership Year. From that point onward, both your Membership and the upgrade will renew together on the same annual billing cycle.

Availability 

There is a 24-hour standdown period from when:

  • you join the AA and select AA Plus and/or AA Motorhome Plus as an upgrade, or  

  • if you hold a current Standard Membership and wish to upgrade to AA Plus and/or AA Motorhome Plus later on.

To receive AA Plus benefits when driving a Vehicle, an AA Plus subscription must be held. Likewise, AA Plus only applies to you and a Vehicle, not a Motorhome.  

AA Motorhome Plus is specific to one nominated Motorhome per household at any one time.

Size and Weight Specifications for a Motorhome:  

Roadservice is available for a Motorhome that is up to: 

  • Weight: 12 tonnes (12,000 kg) gross vehicle mass.  

  • Length: 7 metres, however, please note that Motorhomes exceeding 5.5 metres may be subject to delays from some locations due to availability of the resources required. 

Entitlements Limits 

The total value of entitlements available per Breakdown based on the type of AA Plus or AA Motorhome Plus subscription that you hold, and per Subscription year, are based on the following:

Non-towing benefits are subject to availability, a daily limit, and up to a combined maximum of 3 consecutive days for the maximum overall value stated in the table below.

These amounts are deducted from the maximum claim limits applicable to the specific AA Plus or AA Motorhome Plus subscription type in the first table. 

Any costs or charges more than benefit limits and entitlements and any additional charges for Specialist Towing Equipment will be at your expense (please refer to the Benefits Over 100kms From Your Home Address section below). 

Benefits wherever you are

Towing

If the Vehicle you are with suffers a Breakdown and needs to be towed, we will help tow the Vehicle (plus the Trailer or Caravan attached) to your Home Address, or to the nearest repairer of your choice, as long as the distance is no greater than would be incurred in recovering the Vehicle to your Home Address. Claim limits and exclusions apply (please refer to the Entitlements Limits section above).

Any further towing, transportation (including ferry crossings) and collection costs will be at your expense. Please note that the towing of Vehicles, Trailers, or Caravans, requiring Specialist Towing Equipment will be on a reasonable endeavours basis and is subject to availability. Availability of this equipment may not be available in all areas. Any additional charges/costs for Specialist Towing Equipment will be at your expense. 

Keys

If you lose the key to the Vehicle and need a locksmith, our maximum contribution is $150 towards the cost of the Callout and labour. You will be responsible for any balance payable.  

Benefits over 100 kms from your Home Address

If the Vehicle you are with breaks down 100 kms or more from your Home Address and cannot be reasonably repaired on the same day, we will offer to provide the following benefits, provided all other conditions are met:  

  • Rental vehicle: Arrangement of, or reimbursement for, a rental vehicle (subject to normal rental criteria, and availability conditions) for up to 3 days to a maximum of $150 per day to enable you to continue your journey or help get you home. This does not include pre-booked rental vehicles. Please note running costs, including petrol expenses and any insurance costs that are additional to the base rental fee, are not included. The rental vehicle entitlement includes relocation and delivery fees. To hire a rental vehicle, the driver must be at least 21 years old, hold a current driver's licence for at least 12 months, and have a valid credit card.

 

  • Ground transport: Where we cannot provide you and your passengers with a rental vehicle due to the location of the Breakdown or unavailability, alternative land transport shall be provided, such as by train or bus. Additional personal expenses and extra expenses such as ferry crossing tickets are not included.

 

  • Emergency accommodation: Arrangement of, or reimbursement for, up to 3 days emergency accommodation (subject to availability) to a maximum value of $150 per day should you wish to wait while the Vehicle is being repaired. This benefit does not cover pre-booked accommodation, meals, or personal expenses.

These benefits are subject to the maximum claim limits in the first table above.  

All AA Plus entitlements and benefits must be authorised and arranged by us, at the time of the Breakdown and prior to any arrangements being made or costs incurred, please call us on 0800 500 222 (or *222 from a mobile phone).

On-Tow  

An immobilised Trailer or Caravan attached to the Vehicle at the time of the Breakdown is covered by AA Plus up to the Size and Weight Specifications (please refer to the Personal Membership Terms and Conditions of Service). Please note when towing of a Vehicle is required, which had a Trailer or Caravan attached to it at the time of the Breakdown, the Trailer or Caravan may be towed by an AA Service Provider if they do not need to be lifted and carried, provided they can be towed on the same journey. Additional trips will be at your expense.

In the event of a Trailer or Caravan attached to the Vehicle requiring Roadservice (rather than the Vehicle towing it), normal AA Plus benefits and terms and conditions will apply as they would for a Vehicle breakdown, within the claim limits of AA Plus. Recovery of a Trailer or Caravan on its own where Specialist Towing Equipment is required will be on a reasonable endeavours basis and will be subject to availability. 

Exclusions

 The General Exclusions included in the Personal Membership Terms and Conditions of Service apply, in addition to the following:  

 

  • AA Plus and AA Motorhome Plus upgrades are not available until 24 hours after purchase. 

  • a motorhome that does not meet the Size and Weight Specifications for Motorhomes referred to above.  

  • Fifth Wheelers. 

  • AA Plus and AA Motorhome Plus Benefits for rental vehicles and emergency accommodation:  

  • when the Breakdown occurs less than 100 km from your Home Address, 

  • when repairs can be carried out on the same day as the Breakdown by a suitably qualified person or facility 

  • reimbursement of rental car and/or emergency accommodation costs which were not pre-approved by us at the time of the Breakdown, and/or

  • reimbursement of Vehicle towing charges which were not pre-approved by us at the time of the Breakdown 

  • the registration of the motorhome that you have requested Roadservice for does not match the registration of the Motorhome previously provided by you and approved by us. 

  • it relates to the On-Tow of a Trailer or Caravan under AA Motorhome Plus.
