  • Can I get help straight away if I’m not a current AA Home subscriber?

    Yes. You can get immediate assistance if you pay for an AA Home Response subscription and then for a call out. Please find our tradespeople hourly details on our website.

    However, if you purchase an AA Home Response Plus subscription there is a 24 hour stand down period before you can use one of the six callouts included in your subscription. For immediate assistance please call us on 0800 AA HOME (0800 224 663).

  • Are there any mandatory epidemic and pandemic insurance requirements to enter certain countries?

    Many countries, even before the pandemic, had compulsory health and travel insurance requirements, but many more have since added rules – typically around Covid-19 medical expenses and the associated costs. The coverage type and amount varies by vaccination status and country.  Prior to travelling, check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination.

  • What will be covered when it comes to epidemic and pandemic diseases such as Covid-19?

    AA Travel Insurance policies provide cover for cancellation and medical expenses if you contract an epidemic or pandemic disease such as Covid-19 after purchasing your policy. If you contract an epidemic or pandemic disease after purchasing your policy and can no longer travel, you will be able to make a claim for the cost of flights and hotel accommodation. The policies also provide cover for medical claims directly related to an epidemic or pandemic disease which will apply after you commence your journey if you contract that disease.

  • Does selected cover^ for epidemic and pandemic diseases apply for my cruise holiday?

    Cover is in place; however, this is dependent on the countries you plan on travelling to. If there is a MFAT, SafeTravel or New Zealand Government Level 4 warning “Do not travel” in place, then selected cover^ for epidemic and pandemic diseases cover is excluded and is not covered under our policies.

  • If I contract Covid-19 in transit to my destination country do I have selected cover^ for epidemic and pandemic diseases?

    Cover is in place, providing that the countries you are travelling to do not have a MFAT, SafeTravel or New Zealand Government Level 4 warning “Do not travel” in place.

  • If I contract Covid-19 prior to travelling do I have selected cover^ for epidemic and pandemic diseases?

    Cover is in place, providing that the country you are travelling to does not have a MFAT, SafeTravel or New Zealand Government Level 4 warning “Do not travel” in place.

    AA Travel Insurance policies provide cover for your trip cancellation only if:

    • you or your Travelling Companion are diagnosed with an Epidemic or Pandemic disease and cannot commence or complete your travel; or

    • you or your Travelling Companion are specifically ordered by name into mandatory quarantine or isolation by the New Zealand Government or any government or local authority, based on their suspicion that either you or your Travelling Companion have been exposed to an Epidemic or Pandemic disease.

    It does not cover general travel disruption, including government mandated lockdowns, as a result of Covid-19. There is no cover for claims arising from any lockdowns or mandatory isolation that applies generally or broadly to some or all of a population, vessel or geographical area or that applies based on where you or your Travelling Companion are travelling to, from, or through.
