Are there any mandatory epidemic and pandemic insurance requirements to enter certain countries?
Many countries, even before the pandemic, had compulsory health and travel insurance requirements, but many more have since added rules – typically around Covid-19 medical expenses and the associated costs. The coverage type and amount varies by vaccination status and country. Prior to travelling, check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination.

Does the cover include trip cancellation?
AA Travel Insurance policies provide cover for your trip cancellation only if:

you or your Travelling Companion are diagnosed with an Epidemic or Pandemic disease and cannot commence or complete your travel; or
-
you or your Travelling Companion are specifically ordered by name into mandatory quarantine or isolation by the New Zealand Government or any government or local authority, based on their suspicion that either you or your Travelling Companion have been exposed to an Epidemic or Pandemic disease.
It does not cover general travel disruption, including government mandated lockdowns, as a result of Covid-19. There is no cover for claims arising from any lockdowns or mandatory isolation that applies generally or broadly to some or all of a population, vessel or geographical area or that applies based on where you or your Travelling Companion are travelling to, from, or through.
