    These include but are not limited to the following:

    • Normal lending criteria will apply
    • The minimum loan amount is $5,000
    • Your vehicle will be required as security and it must be fully insured. The vehicle used as security for your loan must be no more than 12 years old.
    • AA Finance loan terms range from 6 months – 5 years
  • Who can I take out Funeral Cover for?

    You can take out a Funeral Cover policy either for yourself or for a close family member.  Close family members are limited to your Husband, Wife, De-facto Partner, Civil Union partner, Mother, Father, Daughter, Son, Brother, Sister, Grandfather, Grandmother or a person for who you hold an Enduring Power of Attorney (POA) over their property. We will require a copy of the POA as evidence.

  • If I’m not 80 but want to do this anyway can I pay to do it? How much will it cost?

    AA Senior Driver is only for Members aged 80 plus, however there are two other options if you do not qualify for this:

    1.)    Refresher Driving Lesson – a one hour driving lesson with an instructor.

    2.)    On-Road Safety Test Practice – a practice test, similar to the real On-Road Safety Test.

    The cost of these two options varies depending on location. Please see the prices listed on our website.

  • How long will it take for a lending decision to be made?

    We aim to let you know within one working hour of receiving your personal loan application.

  • Does my car need to be road legal?

    Yes. Your car needs to be fully road legal (e.g. current WoF and registration etc.) or else you will not be taken out on your in-car drive and you will forfeit your session. You will then need to pay for another in-car session to be able to finish your DDC course.

  • Can I purchase AA Home Response for more than one residential property?

    Yes, you can purchase multiple AA Home Response or AA Home Response Plus subscriptions to cover different residential properties you own. You can either sign up online, or by calling 0800 AA HOME (0800 224 663)

  • How does AA Home Response work with my insurance?

    AA Home Response and AA Home Response Plus do not replace your insurance. You will need to contact your insurer if you wish to make a claim related to the damage you’ve called AA Home about.

  • Is it possible to fail the Defensive Driving Course (DDC)?

    Yes. To pass you must:

    • Complete all classroom session in order
    • Complete all preparation tasks
    • Actively participate in classroom sessions
    • Complete all 3 eDrive modules with a score of 80%+ on each module
    • Complete the 1-hour vehicle drive in a safe manner. Car must be in a road legal condition. Driver must show their drivers licence. Driver must present their completed DDC booklet.
    • Safe manner of the 1-hour vehicle drive includes but is not limited to: No breaches of road rules. No illegal manoeuvres.

    If any of these criteria are not met satisfactorily, the DDC certificate may be withheld. However, you do have the opportunity to either re-do the course or retake the in-vehicle session at an extra cost.

     

  • I am overseas and have lost my licence. What do I do?

    You can apply for a new licence by downloading and completing the steps in the Application for a replacement driver licence and/or extension of driver licence validity form (DL2A) available on the NZ Transport Agency website

    If you have a RealMe verified identity you can apply for a replacement driver licence on the Transport Agency website, and they will mail your replacement licence card to you overseas. Visit the online driver licence replacement service.

  • If a vehicle doesn’t meet the importation standards, are there any exceptions?

    Yes. Vehicles belonging to New Zealanders returning home from overseas or first time immigrants may be exempt from meeting frontal impact,emissions and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) if they meet certain criteria. The main requirement is that the vehicle has been owned and operated for more than 12 months overseas and in the case of New Zealanders overseas, they must have been overseas for more than 21 months.     Also, motoring enthusiasts may be able to import a non-compliant vehicle under certain circumstances if it meets the criteria to be treated as a Special Interest Vehicle.
