  • How is a scooter or moped identified?

A scooter (or moped) is a bike with an engine capacity of less than 50cc, a maximum power output of 2kw and a max speed of 50 km/h. Some bikes look like mopeds and have the same engine capacity; the gear ratios mean they go faster than 50km/h so should be registered as a motorcycle. Mopeds will also have the letter 'N' printed on the registration label.

  • I ride a scooter. How do I change to a full motorcycle licence?
