  • Why have you expanded the programme to all New Zealanders – not just AA Members?

    When taking up the challenge of designing a fuel discount loyalty programme, it became evident that passing on the maximum benefits to Members could not be achieved, if participation in AA Smartfuel was limited to Members only. More people = more partners.

    Yes you can. Your policy pays over and above any other income.

    For a maximum of five years.

  • Am I covered if I lose my false teeth while travelling?

    Yes, these can be claimed under the baggage section.

  • Can I purchase a travel insurance policy for specified items with no other cover?

    No, you must take out a policy and then add the specified item to the cover.

  • If my flight is delayed and I need to get to a special occasion such as a wedding, am I covered to pay for alternative transport to get me there on time?

    Yes. If your travel cannot be delayed due to an occasion like a wedding or a conference then we will pay reasonable costs up to $10,000.

  • Do dependent children need to be named on the policy certificate?

    Yes. Please include them on the certificate; as soon as you put the birth date in the system, the computer recognises that they are not to be charged an individual premium.

  • If I am overseas and wish to extend my stay, am I able to extend the insurance?

    For an extension, you should apply prior to the policy expiring. Provided you have not had any claims, extensions are usually granted.
