AA Life Insurance Connected Care is a virtual health care service provided by Teladoc Health Australasia Pty Limited. It connects users with leading medical and wellbeing specialists, to provide guidance and support around health and wellbeing.

Connected Care uses a network of experts to provide medical, mental health and wellbeing services. Customers register with AA Life Insurance Connected Care via the website: www. aalifeinsuranceconnectedcare.co.nz using their AA Life Insurance Policy Number. If a customer is having issues with registering, they can call Teladoc Health on 0800 425 005 (Monday – Friday, 10am to 7pm) who can help them sign-up.

There is no additional cost to use AA Life Insurance Connected Care services; Ask a GP, Expert Medical Opinion, Mental Health Navigator, Ask a Mental Health Clinician, Nutrition Consult or Fitness & Recovery Consult, if you are eligible through your AA Life Insurance Policy. All meetings and consultations are done by telephone and video call, the user must have access to a working device.

AA Life Insurance Connected Care offers the below services:

  • Ask a GP (General Practitioner) - If you have a medical question, login to the portal, submit your question and an experienced New Zealand GP will get back to you usually within 1 business day.
  • Expert Medical Opinion - Have a leading global specialist review your health condition along with the existing diagnosis and proposed treatment plan.
  • Mental Health Navigator - Mental Health Navigator provides a thorough review and assessment with a NZ registered and licensed Psychiatrist or Psychologist. A Mental Health Nurse is assigned and looks after you through the program, which includes report discussion and help into the recommended treatment pathways. The team can also give guidance on how to navigate the mental health system with advice on options for your best path forward. The user must be 18 years and over and residing in New Zealand.
  • Ask a Mental Health Clinician - For general advice and help about mental health, a registered mental health clinician can answer your questions. Submit your question through the AA Life Insurance Connected Care portal and you’ll receive an answer usually within 1 business day. The user must be 18 years and over and residing in New Zealand.
  • Nutrition & Fitness Consult - Have a qualified fitness specialist or dietician assess your needs one-on-one, to understand you and your health goals. You’ll get a clear plan of action to make the first step towards achieving your goals. The specialist will follow up to check on your progress. The user must be 18 years and over and residing in New Zealand.

A follow up call is scheduled to provide a check in and further support. This will take place two to three weeks after the discussion summary is sent.

AA Life Insurance, in conjunction with their life insurance partner Asteron Life, is the first insurer in New Zealand to offer the wellbeing options of Nutrition Consult and Fitness and Recovery Consult, which means AA Life Insurance Connected Care provides a holistic virtual care solution across medical, mental, and wellbeing services.

AA Life Insurance Connected Care is only available in English, however, Teladoc Health as a global company have the ability to assist individuals in other languages in most situations. Any language requirements can be outlined by the member as part of their request through Connected Care or can be discussed on the initial call with Teladoc Health.

Yes, absolute confidentiality. Results and consultation outcomes are only released to the user and no one else. However, users are encouraged to share the findings with their treating doctors. AA Life Insurance Connected Care supplements the work of the doctor, it does not replace it.

Connected Care services are included at no additional cost with any in-force insurance policies with AA Life Insurance. The insured person has access, along with their partner/spouse, children, parents, and parents in-law.

Mental Health Navigator, ask a Mental Health Clinician, Nutrition Consult, and Fitness & Recovery Consult are only available to people who are 18 years or over and living in New Zealand. Parents and legal guardians of minors can use these services to get support on behalf of their children. Ask a GP and Expert Medical Opinion are available for any eligible individual regardless of age or location.

AA Life Insurance Connected Care services are available to you as soon as your insurance is in place.

Three generations can use AA Life Insurance Connected Care - the AA Life Insurance customer, their partner, children, parents, and parents-in-law all have free access to it! The customer can add the family member as a dependent in their portal if they are a child. If it is an adult family member, they should create their own account. When creating an account, in the Policy Number field, they should include "Family Member" after the individual's Policy number. The family member's eligibility will be verified by Teladoc Health once they request to use a service.

Mental Health Navigator is delivered virtually, which includes video consults. Providing virtual mental health care to teenagers and adolescents does carry more complexity and challenges so currently, availability is for those aged 18 and over. Mental Health Navigator has assisted parents who have children experiencing mental health concerns and can be a useful tool for providing the family with help and guidance.

Those that have access to AA Life Insurance Connected Care will be communicated with directly by AA Life Insurance.

All eligible members and their families (partner/spouse, children, parents (including in-laws)) can use the Nutrition and Fitness & Recovery Consult services provided they are 18 years of age and over and located in New Zealand. The services are easy to access through the Connected Care portal and once a request has been made, a Teladoc Health representative will make contact usually within 1 business day to progress the case.

AA Life Insurance Connected Care services are provided by Teladoc Health Australasia Pty Limited. If the customer has questions regarding the service or registration, they must contact the Teladoc Health customer service team through the portal via www. aalifeinsuranceconnectedcare.co.nz or by calling them on 0800 425 005, Monday – Friday, 10am to 7pm.
