This driver coaching session is about the practice and training that you need to be a confident driver and stay safe on the road. Your AA Driving Instructor will focus on what you need as a driver.
Free once every 2 years for AA Members aged 74+
Booking information
When you are ready to book, what’s next? Create a profile in the name of the person taking the lesson. To receive the AA Membership discounts the person taking the lesson must have a valid AA Membership of their own (not a parent / family member).
AA Members
Use your MyAA login username and password when logging in to make a booking.
Non Members
You can become an AA Member, then connect your Membership number on the sign up process to book lessons at the discounted price. Non Members can also create an account and book lessons without an AA Membership.
About the Senior Driver Coaching Session 74+
These sessions are conducted in the Senior Driver's vehicle and tailored to the individual driver needs. For the booking, a centralised pick up location is necessary. Once booked, you may contact the AA Driving Instructor directly to ask for a home pick-up. A home pick-up may be possible depending on the location and schedule of the instructor's other lessons.
This one hour session with a qualified AA Driving Instructor is comprised of three parts:
Briefing (15 min)
- Overview of your driving history and areas you want to improve on
- Vehicle check that it is licensed & roadworthy
- Safety tips and best practice
Coaching (30 min)
- On-road coaching will focus on a familiar area
- Steering, guiding, indicating, shoulder checks, basic slow speed manoeuvres, hazard identification and basic tips to brush up on your skills
Debrief (15 min)
- Open ended, driver-centred feedback
- Discussion on what went well, areas to work on and planning for future practice and coaching
