The AA recently attended the launch event for the new significantly updated 2022 Mazda CX-5. Mazda hosted the event at Abbeville Estate situated near Auckland Airport. The 1854 Homestead, nestled amongst the traditional landscaped grounds, is where the Mazda team introduced the seven different models within the new 2022 CX-5 range.
It was not only great to have the opportunity to hear from the Mazda team about the updates to the popular five-seater SUV lineup and the new addition to the range the Activ, but also to learn about the companies “Multi-Solution” approach to future technology. Environmental protection and the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions is a core goal for Mazda. They are committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2050 in all areas of operations.
Here in New Zealand Mazda will be funding five native NZ trees for every new Mazda model sold in conjunction with Trees That Count. Native trees not only sequester CO2 from the atmosphere, but they also provide thriving habitats for native birds, improve water quality in water ways, and provide beautiful places for future generations to explore. Every native tree planted in New Zealand helps to restore and enhance our environment, for biodiversity and for climate change.
Mazda’s Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture concept, which was first introduced on the current Mazda3, has been applied to the 2022 CX-5, further evolving the bodyshell, suspension and seats to provide a comfortable, engaging, “Jinba-Ittai” driving experience over even the longest journeys.
There is a total of seven different models within the CX-5 range to choose from. With the addition of the new Activ model, there is a specification level and price point to suit everyone. Pricing for the CX-5 starts at $42,290 + ORC for the GLX 2WD model through to $64,290 + ORC for the top-of-the-line Takami model.
The 2022 CX-5 introduces Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive), which enables the driver to select the most appropriate drive mode with one touch of a switch.
The Activ and Takami models further benefit from an Off-Road Mode, which makes driving feel more natural on un-made and slippery surfaces.
