Explore Limited Edition Suzuki Ignis makes its mark

A limited edition version of the endearing Suzuki Ignis adds an extra touch of individuality to the distinctive looking and super compact SUV.

Launched into the New Zealand market in strictly limited numbers, the Ignis Explore builds on the car’s already chirpy character and looks that stand out in the crowd.

According to Suzuki the new Explore Limited Edition isn’t for the faint of heart – it’s for the loud of heart. With its unique and rugged additions, it is targeted towards those buyers wanting to get the most out of life’s adventures.

  • 15-inch diameter Torino matt black alloy wheels

A popular urban and open road car

Acclaimed for its clever packaging and spacious interior, the distinctive looking second generation Ignis is regarded as the perfect urban commuter as well as being a capable open road cruiser.

Strongly built with super high-strength steel, the Ignis is still light, tipping the scales at a trim 855 kgs and just 20 kgs more when specified with the CVT transmission.

The in-line four-cylinder, 1,242 cm3 capacity K12C engine with variable valve technology produces 66 kW of power, giving spirited performance and excellent economy.

A good driving position and tight turning circle of just 4.7 metres, allied to pleasantly weighted steering makes the nimble Ignis easy to thread through crowded city streets.

The Ignis wins hearts for its bold and quirky styling, flared wheel arches and bluff nose offering character and imagination, while its direct feel on the road is the result of inheriting some of its manners from the best-selling Suzuki Swift.

Packed with comfort and safety features

There is no shortage of comfort and safety items, with the standard specification including a large nine-inch touchscreen, reversing camera, smartphone hands-free connectivity, tilt adjustable leather steering wheel, fog lamps, cruise control, speed limiter, ABS with EBD, air conditioning, 6 airbags, and electronic stability programme.

Compact yet roomy inside

The interior proportions seem to defy logic considering the Suzuki’s modest external dimensions. Measuring just 3.7 metres, the 5-door Ignis hatchback seats four adults in comfort with good headroom afforded by the car’s relatively high stance that confirms the mini-SUV status.

Ideal for transporting adventure gear the wide opening doors allow good access while rear seat room is exceptional for the class, with 60/40 split folding rear seats.

Available in six colours, the choice includes stand-out Flame Orange Pearl, Rush Yellow Metallic and Neon Blue Metallic.

We are looking forward to getting the opportunity to test drive this fun looking Suzuki mini-SUV, perhaps to tick off some of AA Traveller’s New Zealand Must-Do’s. We will be sure to keep you posted as soon as we do!
