Peugeot Sport 308 GTi 2016 car review

For many years the GTi badge has been synonymous with well-equipped sports cars. Peugeot’s history is no different and its return marks a real turning point for the brand. The 308 GTi is worthy of the Peugeot name and it aims to make even the legendary 205 GTi proud.

More power!

Powered by a turbocharged 200kw 1600cc engine which is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission, this car is truly a pocket rocket that can accelerate from standstill to 100km in just six seconds. That’s a faster acceleration time than the current VW Golf GTi! Also this little car is amazingly frugal on fuel, using 6.0L/100km but with me at the wheel, I’m not sure I would ever get the stats this low.

Massage anyone?

The GTi is loaded with features that give it true ‘hot hatch’ status. Some of these are usually reserved for higher priced offerings but this model includes LED lights, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, dual zone A/C, Peugeot Sport branded seats with massage function, navigation, EBD, ESC and EBFD plus much more. Upgrades that are also available include an alarm, Hi-fi system, panoramic glass roof, and Nappa leather sports style seats.

The price for a Peugeot Sport GTi starts at $58,990, putting the price in line with the competition. And, if you’re after my advice, I’d personally also get the glass roof!
