Peugeot 2008 2017 car review

Peugeot’s 2008 enters the hotly contested SUV market with plenty of unique features to make it stand out from other vehicles in the class, and a fresh and exciting new look. Showcasing what to expect from the French manufacturer’s future SUVs, the all-new frontal design features a multi-facetted grille with Peugeot’s Lion emblem right at its centre – one of my favourite features was the inclusion of claw marks that illuminate in the hood lining. Lie back in your seat at night and look up – you’ll soon see what I mean.

More meow for your money

Either side of the same grille are headlamps that feature a feline look with an intensely high-tech chrome and black mask. LED rear lamps contain new, warm-coloured lion claws with a 3D effect.

The revised Allure and GT-Line model ranges have both received a turbocharged 1.2lL PureTech 3 cylinder engine and a new, efficient 6-speed auto transmission, making the driving experience more fun and more powerful.

The sporty styling of the GT-Line is reflected in its interior, with the small steering wheel boasting red contrast stitching, and the inclusion of alloy pedals and a red LED halo that surrounds the instrument panel.

All models include satellite navigation, fog light cornering function, rear privacy glass, dual zone aircon, and auto wipers and lights.

Grip control maketh the SUV

For an extra $2K, the GT-Line receives Grip Control – an intelligent traction control system – a surprising addition considering it’s not even AWD, but I guess it is an SUV after all. Plus, it also includes Active City Brake – a technology that automatically brakes in built-up areas when it detects the risk of a collision – as well as a 17” wheel upgrade, alloy bits and trim highlights.
