MG is one of the fastest growing car brands in New Zealand, with a range of vehicles that is enticing even more Kiwis to switch to low or zero-emission motoring.

MG Motors Australia and New Zealand CEO Peter Ciao said the MG ZS Hybrid+ promises a great driving experience while also benefiting from the highly efficient Hybrid engine.

The all-new MG ZS Hybrid+ has a distinctive design that is both elegant and robust, talking to its strong personality.

Under the bonnet, the ZS integrates a 75kW 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder engine with a dynamic 100kW/250Nm electric motor, paired with a 1.83kWh battery and a three-speed ratio hybrid transmission. The combined output produces 158kW of power and delivers an efficient combined WLTP fuel consumption of 5.2L/100km.

With a high voltage 1.83kWh NCM battery – one of the largest full-hybrid batteries in the segment – with an integrated cooling duct and intelligent BMS with thermal runaway alert, the ZS doesn’t require cords or plugs; the battery recharges while you drive.

On the dashboard the ZS follows the ‘bigger is better’ trend that most vehicle manufacturers are adopting these days: a 12.3-inch virtual cluster is paired with an equally large 12.3-inch infotainment unit.

Advanced safety tech abounds, with the MG Pilot system that predicts potential safety threats in advance.

It seems that MG has prioritised comfort and visibility in the ZS Hybrid+, with large rear windows that enhance the sense of openness and make the journey more pleasant for those sitting behind the driver.

With the seats in place the ZS has a flexible boot space of 443 litres, an increase of 84 litres on the previous model. But with the seats folded down the new model has an increase of 270 litres going up to an impressive 1,457 litres, making it one of the biggest in the segment.

Available in two variants, the ZS Hybrid+ Excite is priced from $36,990+ORC and the ZS Hybrid+ Essence is priced from $39,990+ORC.

So, what is the Verdict on the Hybrid MG ZS?
