Jaguar XE 2015 car review

Jaguar’s new XE sedan sees the luxury car maker taking notes from the past to inform the future and it includes a few firsts for Jaguar. The XE delivers a little bit of something for every motorist with its lightweight construction, streamlined styling and outstanding handling.

High-level sustainability

The Jaguar XE’s aluminium skin is very structured and boasts over 75% aluminium content which contributes to its low weight. With part of its framework made up of recycled materials, the XE is the most environmentally sustainable of all the Jaguar models. A new switch to electric power steering, combined with an extremely aerodynamic body design, helps drivers to save that extra little bit of fuel.

Advanced Safety

When considering safety and technology, this medium sedan also includes some of the most advanced driver assistance systems to outclass its rivals. The XE includes Jaguar’s All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) which helps to improve low-speed traction, as well as emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and much more. With all this in mind, it’s not surprising to hear that the Jaguar XE recently received a 5 star safety rating from ANCAP.

Always InControl

The voice-controlled Premium Meridian audio and infotainment is visually broadcasted via the innovative 8” Touchscreen InControl system, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road whilst still navigating the array of entertainment on offer. The interior layout resembles a cockpit-style setting which is largely due to the deep centre console and spacious cabin, thus creating an interior space of luxury, style and comfort.

Blank canvas

The chassis is built from scratch and since it’s free from carryover restraint it is said to be the most sophisticated of any vehicle in its class and it sets the benchmark for both ride and handling. By opting to use a non-traditional rear suspension setup, Jaguar has broken away from the norm and created a firm and responsive ride with positive steering attributes.

What makes it purr

Powering this new feline is a choice of 2.0ltr petrol or diesel engines and for who prefer more of a wildcat there’s also a supercharged v6 engine. All of these come equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a steering wheel with mounted paddle shifters.

Jaguar hope that the XE will become the biggest selling flagship of their fleet and the price-point will certainly help the cause. The vehicle holds the title for lowest cost of ownership out of all their models. Prices start from $74,900 for their XE 20t Pure and reach up to $106,000 for their top of the range 3.0 V6 supercharged S model.
