Hello,
Yesterday, I was driving on a road where there were many red cones placed and It looked like roadwork but there was no temporary speed limit sign? Was I supposed to slowdown to 30 km/hr even if there is no speed limit sign? and Do I also need to slowdown to 30 if signs show that there are roadworks on a side road but no temporary speed limit is in place?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, From the information I can find.
Speed limits are only changed where there is a sign reflecting the speed for that area, otherwise it is urban (50km) or open road (100km) speeds.
A road works sign without a speed zone would indicate the road is still to be used at the posted speed for the area, but be mindful of the surrounding conditions and drive at a speed accordingly. https://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/roadcode/about-limits/speed-limits/
