My family has 2 cars. Back in autumn, one car developed some serious engine issues, and so I left that in my garage to deal with at a later date. Recently I ordered the parts I needed, and have started repairs. When I looked at the windscreen, I saw the WoF expired a few months back. The car hasn't been on the road without a valid WoF. It's only been sitting at my house. Once all my repairs are completed, and I take it to get a new WoF, will I get fined even though it's been in storage all this time?

Hi there,
The Land Transport Regulations state that operating an unlicensed vehicle is illegal, except if used for the purpose of driving from point A-B strictly for the purpose of obtaining repairs, WoF, or vehicle license. http://www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2011/0079/latest/DLM2938433.html

So, because the car was and is still unused, and will only be driven to get a WoF after being repaired, there should be no fine?
