I have a 1964 classic car that I believe was re-registered about 10 years ago.

It currently has a license plate with letters beginning, "GL", but I think the original plates would have carried letters starting in the "B" range.

Do you know if I can:

1. Find out what its original plate was?
2. Register it with its original plate?

Thanks!

Brenna.

I'm sure an AA Vehicle History Report will provide the information you are looking for.

It should tell you what the original plate number was.

There is a cost, $25 for a non AA Member or $20 if you are a member.

Give it a go, if you don't get the past plate number on the history report, let me know and I will arrange a refund for you.

Re claiming the original number; Once you know what the original number was, log onto http://www.plates.co.nz/ and see if you can claim it as a personalised plate.
