Is it an offence for your number plate to be leaning back on an angle following the bumper line?

Also, is it an offence to 'trim' your number plate to make it fit your bumper without cutting any of the numbers?

Transport rule, Supplementary Regulation 1995/136 states;

'Plates must be in an upright position, to display clearly,every letter, figure and distinguishing mark'

The Law also states that number plates are not allowed to be 'interfered' with.

I am unable to say if this includes cutting the ends of the plate to allow it to fit a particular position

I guess it would depend on your meaning of the word 'trim'.
