We sold a car on 27th Feb and told NZTA via their website. A few seconds afterwards we had an e-mail confirming that we had done so.However we have not had a letter saying the new owners have had their name added to the registration documents.Should we be concerned in case that car is running up speeding/parking fines please?

It is best to always ensure that the seller and buyer complete the forms (MR13A & MR13B) or do it online when selling/buying a car. But you have done your part so that should help if you do have a dispute at a later stage and along with proof that you have sold the vehicle (a dated receipt) it will be difficult for the buyer to dispute an infringement notice.

You will not receive any notification from the NZTA, the only time you receive notification is if the buyer completes his part and the seller doesn't - in this case the NZTA will send you a letter to see whether you dispute the change of registered person.
