Hi, I just bought this vehicle, and it is confirmed by the dealer that it is not CVT. But I was checking last night on carjam.co.nz and found out it is CVT. That really disappointment me, because I dont wanted to buy CVT as advised by you. I did the pre purchase inspection as well and that came out right. Now I am stuck with CVT, could you please guide me what to do. For your reference plate number is HFD398. thanks.

I need your help for this.

regards.

If you specifically asked, and the dealer stated it was not CVT, then this could be deemed to be misrepresentation by the dealer - even if he thought it was not a CVT. We've seen cases before where the Disputes Tribunal's finding has been "unintentional misrepresentation" and given as the reason to reject a vehicle.
So, if you really do not want a vehicle with a CVT, it was confirmed to you that it was not after you asking, this could be grounds to reject the vehicle.
So further to that, perhaps the dealer has a 4 speed automatic Vitz that he would be prepared to exchange this car for.

Hey, just a heads up - some of the info on car jam is generic and doesn't actually apply to the specific car. For example it says my car is a manual on car jam and its not (its an auto). So I'd make sure it IS a CVT from another source first before you complain!

The CVT will not have any noticable gear shifts, where the 4 speed auto will have distinct shifts. If you are in any doubt, ring a Toyota dealer (Parts Departments are best) with the VIN, and they should be able to look it up for you on their parts information system.
Otherwise, a mechanic should be able to tell you by taking it for a quick drive.

I just confirmed with Toyota dealer parts dept. They have said its 100% CVT.
