Our car has broken down due to a faulty clutch. A part has broken off and damaged the gear box. We have been told by the mechanic that it is a faulty part and that this shouldn't have happened. We had no way of predicting or preventing it from happening. Our problem is the insurance company won't even bother to listen to us because it is the clutch. Even though on their website it says the clutch is covered on the policy we have. I am not sure what to do as I believe we have a valid claim?

Generally speaking, clutch friction materials are not covered as they are a wear and tear part, but I would have thought a mechanical component failure would be covered.
If you can't resolve the issue directly with the insurer, you can take the matter to the insurance ombudsman.
