Hi,
What is the likelyhood of an older car - one that you could not register new today for whatever reason - having it's registration status revoked - i.e. taken off the road? If this can happen then under what circumstances?
Regards,
Ian.

Normally if the registration has lapsed for 12 months the registration status is revoked. There are numerous other reasons as well. I would need more details to advise you further.

If you want to buy a vehicle that is unregistered, you will need to have the vehicle re-registered (new plates) you will also need to get a new warrant of fitness and possibly have a new VIN (vehicle identification number),
Same thing if you buy an import, costs about $350 (I got caught out with a car from a deceased estate)
