Hi, Does the law require me to have a catalytic converter attached even though my vehicle is exempt from gas emissions from the SIV? thankyou in advance
If your vehicle is exempt from meeting all emission standards, then it wouldn't need to have a catylitic converter.
Just to clarify the answer above, this is if there is no evidence that the vehicle has ever had a catylitic converter.
A Metred Exhaust Emission Test is carried out by a TSDA (Transport Service Delivery Agent) when the vehicle goes through the compliance inspection, ensuring emissions are within the required thresholds.
If there is evidence that the vehicle had a cat that has been removed, the test document will be issued to you stating that the test was done with the cat removed. This document needs to be kept with the vehicle as it may need to be produced when the vehicle is presented for WOF inspections.
