I own this car in the UK and want to bring it here.
I understand it doesn't count as a classic car as it is not old enough, and am worried if it does not count as an SIV then I will get caught on the new emissions law.
Can you see a way of importing it?

There are a couple of potential avenues open to you. Firstly, a Lotus would be highly likely to qualify as an SIV as I would think it meets all of the criteria set out under the Special Interest category.
The second option that may be open to you is the immigrant or returning resident status. If you have been out of New Zealand for more than 21 months and owned and operated the vehicle for at least 12 months, that may qualify for an exemption.
