A neighbour damaged my car with a rental truck that he'd hired. He wouldn't admit liability although the truck left white paint from it on my car, he was parked right in front of me and the truck had markings indicating it had scratched something at the exact same height. He said he "may have done it as he felt a bump" but would not admit to it. I've had to pay a $300 dollar excess on my policy and I want to know how I can recover this from him.

We suggest you try and make contact with the rental company concerned as your neighbour may have taken out insurance cover as part of the hire agreement. They may have even flagged the damage when the truck was returned.

Or ask your insurance company to help you recover the excess from the other party.
