Car broke down in Hamilton had to get rental car to get back home to Stratford, was charged $55.00 as Thrifty claimed I was suppose to return to Hamilton. Vehicle is still in Hamilton ( has been two weeks now without vehicle). Can I ask AA for the money back as the mistake was theirs and not mine, and still not having vehicle and getting run around about when it is going to get delivered to Midhirst Service Station so that they can repair and get back on the road. The whole event makes you wonder why as an AA plus member you would get the run around, paying the extra money was worth it but with the out come has left a sour note with the AA.
Can I ask for compensation from AA over this & the extra cost of the rental that I was not expecting?

Hi thank you for your reply have just heard that my vehicle is now in Auckland (further north), cannot believe that this has happened and why the AA is taking so long to get this sorted.
If I had to hire a car would now be in debt, do not think that the way they have handled this has been good and I now have my garage acting on my behalf to get the vehicle back to Taranaki.

Hi Linda
Thanks again for your feedback and for your patience. Following on from our conversation earlier today, the one way fee in this instance will be reimbursed to you. Unfortunately your vehicle was awaiting a transporter heading directly to Stratford and was brought to Auckland to be loaded. Arrangements have been made for an independent recovery operator to deliver the vehicle to your repairer on Friday morning. We sincerely apologise for the additional delays this has caused and for the breakdown in communication which we are investigating. We confirm that a rental car has been arranged for you whilst you await the repairs to your vehicle.

Thank you to the AA for getting my vehicle back to be repaired and now have in my possession. The rental car is returned and things are back to normal, with truck off the road managed to get a weekend at home LOL as did not have a vehicle to tow the float.
Am grateful to Rushlee for getting on to this and working with Dicksons for the rental car & Midhirst Service Station to get the vehicle repaired and back home.
I have heard of teens running away from home but never a vehicle lol.
