Hi there, I've had my Restricted for about 8 months now and intend to go for my full in at the end of January (This will be more then a year after my restricted and I will have completed my defensive driving). However, I will be 17 and 4 months when I go for it... I'm confused as to if I'm allowed to go for it with the new law changes? Do I have to send off an exception form or am I legally allowed to go for it?

Under the new licence laws, you must be 18 to sit your Full licence, or 17½ if you have passed an approved advanced driving course like Defensive Driving. However, because you were already part way through the system before the law change, you may be eligible for an exemption which will allow you to continue the process under the old system. Or you could wait another 2 months and sit it when you are 17½ anyway.
