Ask an expert
I recently received a speeding ticket from a police officer for an estimated speed.
The officer estimated my speed to be between 70-80km/h but he could not prove this. The ticket was written for 71km/h and the officer also noted I was travelling in a 50km/h zone which means 35 demerit points.
I was in fact travelling in a 60km/h zone and do not believe I was speeding.
What can I do about this, I don’t believe this is fair.

All you can do is write in and challenge the ticket for the reasons you mention. I don’t believe you can be ticketed for an estimated speed and if you can prove it was in fact a 60km/h zone you have every change of the ticket being cancelled.
Love to know the outcome

I wrote in as you suggested and guess what, I got off the speeding ticket!
