Do you know if and when the proposed change to the Right Hand rule may happen?

I think it is long overdue now, and the excuse we are given that we will be all be totally confused, may well apply to the politicians who are reluctant to change it, but us everyday kiwis are of far greater intelligence.

The Minister of Transport has confirmed in the Government’s Safer Journey’s strategy that the right hand give way rule will be changed.

However, although the Government is committed to changing the rule as a high priority, this still has to go through a public consultation process which will probably occur this year, meaning the rule change is unlikely to take effect until sometime in 2011.
