Hi there,
We have owned a Nissan van for approx 4yrs and have had WOF's regularly during that time without question on the rear seatbelts in the van. Yesterday the testing station told me I needed a certificate plate for the rear seatbelts which are bolted to the inside panel of the van. There are also belt hook attachments bolted to the floor. The rear seat is a fold up bench seat. We purchased the van with the seatbelts already installed. The certificate for the rear seatbelts will now cost me $450! can you please advise whether you think this is necessary and why this hasn't been picked up before. I have gone to a different testing station than usual.
Cheers
Kirsty

I suggest you go back to the Testing Station concerned and ask them to show you the rules pertaining to the fitment of rear seatbelts in this vehicle.

I think you will find the rejection is valid but it may depend on your vehicles age.

The number of seatbelts required can be determined by the number of sleeping berths the van has.
