Hi. What are my options: Today a garage failed my WOF because they said I had damage to a sill they thought could be structural. They required me to go to a panel beater to get him to state it wasn't structural. We went to one, who said it wasn't but has refused to sign the waiver in case he is liable if I have an accident. It will cost about $2000 to fix and I doubt the car is worth much more than that. It's a 2006 Skoda hat I've had from new and has low mileage so I'm reluctant to get rid of it. Can I go to another garage to reassess and override the first WOF?
As background, I'm pretty certain the damage is the result of hitting a curb about ten years ago - the wheel rims have related damage. The car has never failed a WOF on this basis before. Your advice would be appreciated!

Hi there,
There is nothing to stop you getting your warrant elsewhere if you believe that inspector was being a bit tough. There are rules on damage in the wof book that would need to be followed and would provide a guide as to a pass or fail. Generally the rule is deformation larger than 40mm in diameter and deeper than 5mm can be cause for fail or warrant further investigation.
