We have a vehicle accident claim (not with AA insurance) where the fault is disputed.

Our version of events is that our vehicle was reversed into, however, the 3rd party claims we drove into them.

Is there a service you recommend (other than a vehicle repairer) that could assess the damage to our vehicle and determine the angle and direction of impact? Is this something the police crash investigators could do. Note the accident did not involve injury and was not reported to the police.

I'm not aware of any service that could determine which vehicle backed into which in this instance. You may find that it will be classed as split liability and each insurance company will pay for one car repair each. Police crash investigators would not be helpful as it is a civil matter not a legal one. If you don't agree with the outcome, you might be able to seek damages in a Disputes tribunal.
