HavalH2

Purchased a new Haval H2 in Jan 2019 (build date of car Aug/2018) after taking one out for a demonstration. The Haval H2 has 3 driving modes - standard, economy and snow mode. On the demonstrator car the choice of driving mode was shown as a small icon on the Dashboard Information Centre System - at the bottom next to the ODO reading. On my car, a later build date of course, this indicator icon is not present, a fact I only noticed after a couple of weeks of ownership. The dealer/Haval advise this is because my car has a later hardware version of the Dashboard Information Centre System - V12 as opposed to V11 on the demonstrator. Further they advise nothing can be done to get this indicator back as it was a normal "running change" to the car.
The driving mode indicator was one of the features that counted towards my decision to purchase (amongst many others, of course).
Do I have any recourse to have this issue resolved? Can I ask the dealer to take the car back for a full refund?
Regards,
Martin

If you feel the dealer has mislead you may have a claim under the fair trading act, ultimately make sure the dealer understands how important this feature was to you and explain how you believe the salesperson misled you.
If you cannot reach a resolution you would need to dispute the matter in the motor vehicle disputes tribunal.

The Fair Trading Act protects consumers from misleading and deceptive trader behaviour, and unfair trading practices. These behaviours can include anything from false claims about what a product is made from or where it comes from, unfair sales practices, and key details being hidden in fine print.

Now here's the rub - the dealer (and distributer) claimed not to know the change - the manufacturer does not advise these running changes apparently.
Dealer/distributor web sites say "HAVAL Motors New Zealand reserves the right to change the information including, but not limited to the models, prices, colours, materials, equipment or other specifications referred to on this site at any time without prior notice. Always consult your HAVAL dealer for latest specifications, availability and pricing. Images for illustration purposes only".
Seems dealers/distributors backsides are covered? Your view?
Possible only course of action is through the MVDT under the Consumer Guarantees Act - purchased product does not match demonstrator. Your view?

Hi Ian,
Is my reply to your 'advice' a candidate for the 'too hard basket'? Suspect so as I have not seen a response. Please advise/respond.

Thanks,
