I bought a used import from a dealer April last year and believe the odometer is incorrect (wound back). The CIN stated the odometer mileage, and no other statement ie. that it might be incorrect. I signed this.
The vehicle offer and sales agreement, which I also signed, has two relevant lines
- a copy of the CIN which was attached to the vehicle has been provided to me and signed in acceptance by me
- Where the vehicle being purchased is a used import, I acknowledge that the Trader has explained to me that the odometer reading of the vehicle may be incorrect and that the Trader makes no warranty or representation as to the accuracy of the odometer reading.
It was not made clear to me that the odometer may be incorrect. In fact, It was pointed out the mileage was low for a car of this age.

What are my legal options to get my money back please?

Hi there,
You would need un-disputable evidence that the mileage has been tampered with and then you may need to seek resolution through the Motor vehicle Disputes tribunal if you can't find resolution through the dealer.
