Hi,

I believed the general speed tolerance is 4kph in holidays and otherwise it is 10kph!? How come that one gets a fine for being within the tolerance?

Kind Regards

Hi there,
Any kind of tolerance or speed threshold does not change the speed limit, if you speed you are at risk of getting a fine. It would also depend on what is monitoring the vehicle speed and the location with regards to if or what tolerance is applied. https://fyi.org.nz/request/2517/response/8160/attach/7/Ashton%2015%202080%20Speed%20enforcement%20policy%20Speed%20enforcement%20chapter.pdf

As you will know it is at times difficult to track and keep to the speed limit 100%, especially when in a more hilly setting. Hence I believe these tolerances where put in place.

Again it was within the tolerance and not in a specially limited zone or time-frame. I just want some clarity as to the tolerance and if it can be changed by the discreation of the Police as and when they see fit. The linked document does not state that.
