I completed a purchase from a car dealer in Auckland on 11 June 2018, just last month. This was a Lexus LS600H Hybrid Snergy Drive. A car guaranteed to be in great condition, and with a new warrant.

I have been waiting for the past two weeks to see a certified Lexus technician, as there is an issue with the vehicle causing me concern.

After running diagnostics on the vehicle at Lexus (New Plymouth), it was found that three suspension shocks have failed with the forth dangerously close to failing as well. it's my understanding that this car should never have been sold in this condition, nor should it have passed a warrant of fitness, which was issued only two months ago. The only solution and recommendation is to fit this vehicle with 4 new replacement shocks. I have had a second opinion with the same result and again, I have been advised not to drive the vehicle as it is.
I've sent the report to the dealer who tell me the car should be fine and refuses to consider the report from Lexus. He is now offering to transport the car to his yard in Auckland so he can have his team look over it as he doesn't believe there is a problem.
If you have any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

With this finding, the dealer has the right to ask for the vehicle, carryout their own checks and repair as necessary. After this you may obtain a second opinion to check if they have in fact remedied the faults afterward.
