My 2010 IX35 diesel 4wd has a failed rear diff - metal fragments in the oil. The vehicle only has 130,00km and the 4wd is part time, so that rear diff probably has less then 50,000km use. Has Anybody else had this issue ? is it reasonable ? near enough to $7000 to repair.

That sounds strange like the rear diff has been working very hard, are the tyres the same profile , or has the oil recently been replace in the rear differential?

Perhaps others have further advice on this issue.

diif oil shouldn't be an issue as the vehicle was purchased from Hyundai dealer and has been serviced by the dealer since purchase.
Rear tyres were replaced 1000km ago - front tyres are only 12 months old so there shouldn't be any significant difference in circumference. Profile and width are the same, but I'll double check when I get the vehicle back. Hyundai NZ have discounted the parts by $500.
