Hi my friend was reversing from a car park across a busy road. At the time there were no cars visible on either side when she looked out windows and mirrors. Once she was across the road almost ready to drive off she was hit by an on coming vehicle from behind. This person had plenty of view to see my friend reversing and made no attempt to stop at all or make a noise to alert my friend that she was there. Is my friend liable for damage to this lady's car? Is there a law against reversing across the road from a car park?

Hi there,
In most cases, the reversing party would be considered at fault, as they are tasked with making sure the way is clear throughout the whole manoeuvre. This is especially crucial as they are entering a road way contrary to the flow or direction of traffic already on the roadway (whether it's a driveway, road, or within the carpark area)
