On Customs St (and Queen St), there is a No U-turn sign at the end of the island just outside the Grand Mercure. How far/long is no U-turn valid before u-turns can be made?

Hi there,
The Roadcode doesn't specify how long. I would have thought the no U-turn sign would be applicable for the stretch of road immediately after the sign right up till the next stop point/ lights/ intersection etc.
NZ Roadcode states: Making a U-turn
You are normally allowed to make U-turns, as long as the road is clear in both directions and it is safe to do so. Make sure you have enough room to complete the turn and don't create a hazard for oncoming vehicles.
You aren't allowed to make U-turns if a 'No U-turn' sign is displayed.
