Last month i had my airbag replaced under the air bag recall. Upon picking up my car, I was told that there was a crack on the air vent. They had taken a photo prior to the work being carried out to prove the crack was already there. I nearly cursed at the service manager that how could the crack was already there. I brought the car to have the airbag replaced and the car returned to me with a crack vent. I have also heard other motorists(in FB car forum) having some other issues relating to the replacement of airbag that caused problem on their dashboard with this car maker. Basically, the dealership won't front up any responsibility. Is there anything I can do to get them to change their mind? Thanks.

Hi there,
This is always a tricky scenario to be in and may never reach a resolution if they are adamant that it was damaged before carrying out the work and you are also adamant it wasn't.
A suggestion that may help lead to a resolution in a case like this, could be a compromise - 50/50 cost split? Parts vs labour to fit?
Mediation may end up by way of a dispute tribunal hearing to claim back the costs occurred for repairs, but this may be more costly an option.

Thank you for your reply. There is no way I am going to pay for the split of the repair which i reckon is at least $500 without the labour. If they are not going to repair it, i am planning to give them some media coverage and as well as take them to dispute tribunal. I have heard others having issues with their replacement of the air bag and caused damages to their dashboards. This is simply a bad workmanship.
