Hi, someone I know bought a 2008 Honda Fit 2 Weeks ago from a dealer in Christchurch, he lives in Blenheim. He has just noticed the fuel gauge doesn't seem to be working now as the fuel light stays on and it says the car is empty, even after he has twice put in more fuel to check.

I believe that since this has happened within 2 weeks this fault should obviously be covered by dealer under the CGA. My Question is however, as he lives in a different city (Blenheim
) and is not practical for him to physically take it to the dealer which would be a 4-5 hour drive, which could occur significant expenses if he has to stay in Chch or take time off work etc, does the dealer need to find a solution with a local (Blenheim) mechanic/repairer?

Hi there,
Under the CGA, the vehicle owner is to give the seller the first right of repair. So I recommend they call the dealer and highlight the fault and see what they say, the dealer would be within their rights to ask for the vehicle to be returned in order to repair, or they could say book it into a garage for a check and then get back to them with a quote for repair.
