Hi,
I bought myself a 2015 Ford Ranger 4x4 which is an australian damaged import.
It has front impact and airbags have been deployed.

I only to use it off roading purposes but I would like to drive it to the off roading tracks or beachs and get involved for motorsport competitions with it.

Is it possible to get it low volume certified for airbag removal(along with lift, larger tyres, roll cage, ect), get the front end repaired and get it registered? Something in the line of special interest vehicle permit perhaps? Or Motorsport Authority card?

Unfortunately the person I bought it off, didn't give me any import papers.

Thanks for your help

Hi there,
If we look at this vehicle without the motorsport aspect first.
In order to get any imported vehicle certified here, you will need documents that prove ownership to you and a trail back to the previous owner and proof of previous licensing in Australia. The vehicle will need to have had all the border/ customs inspections and gst paid. Because it was imported as damaged/ stat write-off it also may need a repair cert. Vehicle standards can be determined by the ADR compliance label.
I think the above process may need to be in place before the vehicle can be considered for use on the road. However I suggest speaking to a certifier about this process.
Then there is the LVV/ Authority card process which allows a modified vehicle to obtain a wof. http://www.motorsport.org.nz/content/lvv-motorsport-authority-cards
