I have just purchased some really high end headphones and want to wear them while driving occasionally, however I am told that its illegal, but internet searches say thats an urban legend. Can you confirm one way or another.

The NZTA warns about drivers not being distracted, but I can't find a law that states it is illegal to drive while using headphones.
