I was told by the dealer it's best to use 95 in this vehicle but with the widening gap from 91 in terms of price I'd like to try 91. I know modern engines can detune to safely run on lower octane but which is actually the correct fuel? I have heard the the 95 is only really for extreme conditions and is recommended but not required?

Lance,I have an outlander 2.4.Although a later model it uses the same engine and the manual clearly states 91 octane petrol.If still in doubt check with mitsubishi agent.
