Greetings
I am considering purchasing a 2008 - 2011 Ford Focus TDI. the fuel economy of the diesel is impressive but over 250,000 ks is the diesel likely to cost more to run than a petrol because there are more bits to go wrong eg common rail fuel injectors , the turbo and the attendant sensors. I do tend to keep vehicles a while and run up high k's.
In fact can you reasonably expect a well maintained focus do high k's

250,000km is high for any car, and with high kms comes high risk. While the Focus TDI is a very good car, servicing and repairs are likely to be costly at that mileage.
As a generalisation, the running costs for petrol and diesel vehicles are relatively similar when all things are considered.
If you plan on running up a high mileage, you may be better off opting for something more mainstream and less complex - and perhaps petrol.
