I used my 1996 Mitsi Legnum S/W to tow a medium size fully enclosed trailer half full of stage lighting equipment approx 260km last weekend. What mileage rate would be reasonable to charge for this?

The true running cost is very difficult to determine on a vehicle of this age, so it really comes down to a negotiation between the parties involved.
As an indication, the rate for this vehicle would be 78.8c per km if it was a much newer car (where depreciation is a major factor), and the IRD rate is 77c per km.
