It is difficult to calculate the running cost on a vehicle of this age. The AA's running cost calculations for a diesel vehicle between 2,001cc and 3,000cc are 82c per km, however these calculations are based on a vehicle at the 3rd year of age, with the biggest chunk of running cost being the depreciation. With a 19 year old vehicle, most of the depreciation has already occurred, so the true running cost may only be about half of that figure.
Depending on your reason for obtaining the running cost, you may be better advised to use the IRD rate of 77c per km as this applies to any vehicle regardless of age or engine capacity. However, this can only be used up to 5,000km per year unless you are using a log book and provide receipts.
